- His mother attended a party in the woods of Sunset Falls during a full moon. She sort of killed and ate his father, whoops.
- When he was born, she sought out a means to seal the wolf. Though hers couldn't be sealed as she was cursed, Rem's could as it was a new soul and lacked strength. As a result though, Rem displayed traditional signs of lycanthrophy - thicker body hair, pointed ears, sharp teeth, and a keen sense of smell.
- Rem grew up handling his mother's lycanthrophy, keeping it a secret and doing his best to help her through it. His mother's wolf recognized him as a wolf and as pack. She was never aggressive towards him.
- However, one full moon when Rem was fourteen his mother escaped the basement. Rem spent half the night tracking her, and eventually found her fighting another werewolf. When Rem tried to get between them, his mother attacked him in her heightened state of agitation. The fight left significant scarring.
- Rem knew his mother didn't mean to, though it made him see the wolf in a new light. He'd never known he had to fear it before and now he knew only too well. April never forgave herself.
- She began drinking wolfsbane tea to suppress the wolf. This tea made her groggy and fatigued.
- His mother eventually began seeing another man and it seemed like a good, stable relationship, until her boyfriend disappeared as people so often do in Sunset Falls.
- Hit a punk phase in highschool and never left it.
- Graduated with honors in highschool, fully intenting to take off to Portland and never come back. Unfortunately with the disappearance of his stepfather he ended up staying. His siblings and mother needed him.
- Aimless. Half-heartedly studying to be a tattoo artist. Also studying magecraft because that's the best way to stay alive in town.
